About The Eye-Bank.
The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration is the world’s first eye bank. Established in New York City in 1944, it is an independent, non-profit organization devoted to restoring sight through eye donation and corneal transplantation, as well as providing ocular tissue for research into treatment and cures for other eye diseases. Since The Eye-Bank was founded, the pioneering organization has helped provide the beautiful gift of sight to more than 70,000 individuals who would have otherwise been blind.

Today, The Eye-Bank is a leader in the field, operating a state-of-the-art Ocular Laboratory and employing advanced techniques in preparing donor tissue for successful transplant surgeries. The Eye-Bank also provides eye tissue to patients in need of life-enhancing, reconstructive surgery. The Eye-Bank’s Professional Education program provides healthcare and medical professionals with up-to-date information about eye donation. Our Public Education efforts create awareness in the community about the need for increased eye donation and the good that it can do.

There are thousands of New Yorkers losing their sight and they are counting on you to help. The Eye-Bank urges all New Yorkers to sign up today in the New York State Donate Life Registry. See what your eyes can do for others.® – Our History – Leadership
