During National Donate Life Month in April, The Eye-Bank participated in a series of events to honor those who have given the gift of sight and life through eye, organ and tissue donation. We also celebrated those whose sight has been restored and those whose lives have been saved and healed because of a donor’s generosity.
To kick off the month, Eye-Bank staff attended a Donate Life press conference at the New York International Auto Show. Then, toting Donate Life-themed “selfie frames,” Eye-Bankers participated in health fairs, visited classrooms, supported Donate Life flag-raising ceremonies, and engaged with the public at multiple DMV locations to raise awareness about the importance of eye donation and to advance the Donate Life cause.
This year’s theme featured trees as a symbol of life and connection. So, during Donate Life Spirit Week, Eye-Bank staff decorated small pots to house succulent plants, which were displayed on staff desks. The project added a touch of color to the office while echoing the month’s plant-inspired theme.
Like the roots of a tree, a shared purpose supports and sustains a community. Thank you to all those who came out in support of The Eye-Bank and the Donate Life cause this April. Together, we can help restore sight, provide healing and save lives.
If you have not done so already, sign up to become an eye, organ and tissue donor today.
