
In October, Patricia Dahl, Executive Director & CEO of The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration informed the Board of Directors of her plan to retire on April 15, 2026, after 45 years of service to the world’s first Eye-Bank founded in 1944. The Board has appointed Edwin H. Roberts, MPPA, CEBT, the organization’s current Associate Director, as the new Executive Director and CEO, effective April 16, 2026.
Patricia Dahl dedicated her career in eye banking to advancing the profession by promoting innovation and international dialogue and by supporting new developments in ocular research. The recipient of the 2000 Leonard A. Heise Award for outstanding devotion to the Eye Bank Association of America’s development, Ms. Dahl is a past-Chair of the association and has served on a variety of the its key committees, including the Medical Advisory Board, Accreditation Board, Technician Training and Certification Board. She is a member of the European Eye Bank Association, has served on the New York State Transplant Council since 2002 and is a former Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Eye Banking.
Edwin H. Roberts, MPPA, CEBT has 26 years of experience in eye banking, with expertise in compliance and quality assurance, as well as the technical aspects of the profession. An active leader in the donation and transplant community, Mr. Roberts serves on the Board of Directors of Donate Life New York State and is a member of the Eye Bank Association of America’s Medical Advisory Board and Accreditation Board, among other committees. He is also an officer of the Auxiliary Board of Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. For 19 years, Mr. Roberts worked as a New York City paramedic and was recognized with the FDNY Bureau of EMS Pre-Hospital Save Award for exceptional lifesaving care.
