The winner of this year’s $3,000 Young Ambassador Scholarship is Hannah Ganson, a graduate of Commack High School who will begin her first year at the University of Rhode Island’s College of Nursing in the fall. Her winning public education project focused on conducting outreach efforts at Nassau Community College including tabling at the college’s annual Day of Service, educating faculty and students about eye donation and helping them to register as eye, organ and tissue donors. She designed a variety of distinctive promotional materials centered around the theme of eye donation. In addition to campus tabling, she also reached out to the broader community by distributing Eye-Bank public information materials to area eye-care providers.
