Lorina Durso, aka Lori, was my friend. She had a great sense of humor and loved animals especially her cats. I used to see her walking up and down the block with what looked like a stroller. At first I thought she was babysitting for someone until I looked in and saw her two cats, Red and Mitzy.
In Lori’s earlier years, she worked at an Italian restaurant where the owner and chef took her under his wing and taught her how to cook. Some of her favorite things to eat were lobster and anything chocolate. Her favorite color was blue, just like her pretty eyes.
Lori and her husband, Mike, had taken care of her Mom for many years until her Mom passed when she was in her late 90s. Lori had decided to be an organ donor to help give someone else a chance at life. She especially wanted to donate her eyes as a kind of way to say “thank you” because a long time ago, her brother had received donor eye tissue.
I hope Lori’s wish to give the gift of sight to someone came true and they live a long and healthy life seeing through the eyes of a beautiful woman. I miss you my friend.
