During my last year of high school, when most of my friends were looking forward to graduating and planning their future, I was losing my sight.
My eye doctor told me I needed a cornea transplant. I was the wrestling champion for my school and I had to stop all sports.
I was a little nervous after I learned that the tissue needed to come from a donor but following the surgery, I could see out of my right eye. Since the cornea transplant, my eyesight has improved steadily. I am now lifeguarding and going to college.
When I look back on this, I am so thankful for my donor and the support of my entire family – my Mom, Dad, my brother and my sister. They were really there for me and helped me through this rough time.
