On October 14th The Eye-Bank hosted another successful virtual Fall Benefit – New York Back in Sight which was a celebration of New York City’s reopening. WCBS’s Health & Wellness Correspondent Pat Farnack returned to emcee the evening and Steve Schirripa from The Sopranos and Blue Bloods, our very charismatic host for the evening, took us on a virtual night on the town complete with drinks, dinner and a Broadway show.
Erin Davey of the Tao Group kicked the evening off by showing us how to make a New York City original cocktail, the Penicillin. Following this James Beard Award-winning Chef Dan Kluger, the owner of Loring Place, Washington Squares and Penny Bridge, demonstrated the secrets behind his famous Grandma Style pan pizza while guests tasted along at home. And finally, closing out the event, Tony-nominated playwrights Irene Sankoff and David Hein, gave attendees a peek behind the curtain of the hit Broadway musical, Come from Away.
Throughout the celebration, viewers heard from grateful recipients about how their lives have been significantly impacted thanks to The Eye-Bank’s work. Most importantly we exceeded our fundraising goal, raising more than $60k for our mission of restoring sight to .. New Yorkers!
Special thanks to our event Co-Chairs Dr. Douglas Lazzaro and Umber Ahmad and thank you to everyone who tuned in and contributed to the success of the event!
